Tips on First Day of Internship

So I thought for this blog post I would give some helpful tips on what to expect on the first day at your internship based on my experience.

1. Learn to adapt quickly in your new environment. You'll be spending 10 hours or more a week in this space so you want to be comfortable with your surroundings.

2. You won't be friends right off the bat with your boss or co workers. It takes time to develop a relationship with them; you have to remember there are boundaries between your colleagues but you don't want to close yourself off to them. Let them get to know you and vice versa so you'll have a good relationship throughout your internship.

3. Don't expect structured plan. If you're working at a startup, you must realize before going in the first day that you won't have a set scheduled or tasks everyday. Startups are learning just as much as you are so you must be patient with your company and be prepared to take on any tasks.

4. Take initiative. Your boss or colleagues will really admire if you take the time and pitch new ideas. After all, it is a startup so any new ideas will be taken into consideration. You'll definitely gain a lot of credibility doing so.
